sarah's blogWelcomeHi I'm Sarah and I'm glad you're here to see my site, have a look around, it's always changing. I'm a young fiber artist just getting started selling my work. I have been knitting about three years and weaving for a year. To see more information about a picture click on the text above the picture instead of on the picture itself. Feel free to leave comments on blog entries or pictures and to email me through the site at any time.
Wow a return!Sorry I disappeared for so long. I probably spent too much time posting on ravelry.com I've gotten much more interested in spinning than I was when I last posted. I have worked with amazing teachers to learn flax and cotton spinning, yarn ideal for socks and textured yarns. My Lendrum Very Fast Flyer has become my best friend but I also love my Bosworth Moosie Spindle and other spindles. This is the yarn I am most proud of
YarnSince I started spinning I haven't bought much yarn. What yarn I have bought has been feltable wool for purses to sell. I love making them, and there really are a lot of options in wools of that thickness (usually worsted and a bit of bulky). But I recently have found myself desperately wanting to try some new commercial yarns.
I bought a spinning wheel today!I bought a double treadle Lendrum folding wheel made out of Walnut. This wheel was only made in 2001 and doesn't come up for sale a lot. It completely meets my specifications and I'm ecstatic. I can't wait for it to get here so I can spin spin spin till daddy takes the lendrum away. I promise I'll take pictures and let you know how wonderful it is.
Want ListSpending time with so many weavers and then spinning daily and posting on forums about it has caused me to think about some tools I want
Midwest Weavers ConferenceWow, long time no update.
Midwest WeaversWell it's official (at least once I get this check in the mail). I am going to Midwest Weavers conference this June in Grinnell Iowa. I will arrive Wednesday the 23rd, and head back to Indiana on Sunday. My plan is to take Jane Patrick's rigid heddle weaving class and a mini session on weaving with kids. I can't wait, and will try to blog about it while there. Tomorrow I'm going to a local sheep shearing and in about two weeks The Fiber Event in Greencastle Indiana, I'll let you know what I get at each.
Getting back in the sock knitting groove.I love handknit socks. I love working on size one needles. You'd think I actually would knit socks. But I'm too wimpy for interesting socks and the ones I can do usually seem too much like endless stockinette for me. Oh well, my feet are cold so I'm going for it.
Mostly spinning stuffAll of my purses are off in New York with a photographer. He's going to do some shots and editing and then get them up here for you all to see.
