Welcome

Hi

I'm Sarah and I'm glad you're here to see my site, have a look around, it's always changing. I'm a young fiber artist just getting started selling my work. I have been knitting about three years and weaving for a year. To see more information about a picture click on the text above the picture instead of on the picture itself. Feel free to leave comments on blog entries or pictures and to email me through the site at any time.

More Tour de Fleece

I finished and washed the CVM. It is plied nicely and put up in a skein to enter at the county fair. 290 yards of lace to fingering weight!

Last night I started spinning some of the purple mohair I bought at my spinners and weavers guild's auction. The single of it was 108 yards and 75 grams, thick stuff. I wasn't sure I could still spin thick, I've been spinning so much sock weight when plied. Today I plied it with sewing thread and silk flowers. I'm hoping to knit a kids hat. I'll take pictures as soon as I get a new camera.

Tour de Fleece

Welcome to everyone procrastinating on Tour de Fleece and clicking everyone's member page. I'm Sarah and have been spinning about a year.

Vacation

I'm taking a much needed trip to the east coast. My mom and I are flying from Indy to Baltimore on the 19th then driving down to Chincoteague, Virginia for five nights. On the 24th we are going up to Ocean City, Maryland for a night then driving back to Baltimore and flying home the 25th. I will be reachable by phone during that time but not email.

New obsessions go with old ones

I am finally back to knitting, weaving, and spinning after a long semester. I have woven one scarf using my own handspun and have started a belt with a very mixed warp (rayons, silk, cotton, wool, acrylic). I am also almost finished with a huge knit bag and hope to felt it this week.

To do

Summer starts in two weeks. Here is a list of things I plan to knit and weave.

Finish brown striped bag (almost done)
Finish purple blanket (1/4th done)
Knit messenger bag
Knit bamboo wool socks
Knit Bamboo Silk socks
Spin California Variegated Mutant wool ply as a rag yarn, knit and felt into small bag.
Weave super secret project
Weave two scene weavings
Weave blanket for Maddie's sibling.

Sorry I've been away since spring break

Life just got away from me, and I promise I wasn't out partying like the college student that I am (even living five miles from America's Greatest Party Weekend last week). I have spent most of my time working on coursework or knitting and weaving. I finished three baby blankets and got them passed out, wove a really strange leno scarf that I'm not speaking too, and wrote a few knitting patterns. Last weekend I went to the Fiber Event in Greencastle, IN. Much fun, though I didn't find any more of that awesome sock yarn I bought last year.

Random act of kindness

Anyone who comments on this entry either here or at Livejournal will be entered into a drawing for a needle felted pin, probably of a flower. In the comment tell me what you are looking forward to most about Spring. I certainly would like more colors and inspirations in nature.

XOXO

I've developed a theory. This theory requires you to pretend the meaning for XOXO is X= hugs and O= kisses. I realize that some people do it opposite of that. I do not understand those people.

If X=hugs X also = weaving. Weaving is very old and very basic. It is not glamourous but it is neccesary and creates things we take for granted much like hugs. If we are in need of comfort we slip into our old jeans, grab a quilt or other woven fabric blanket and hide from the world. The warp and weft of your weaving cross over each other like your body with a friends arms.
