Mostly spinning stuffAll of my purses are off in New York with a photographer. He's going to do some shots and editing and then get them up here for you all to see. My spinning group has been planning a fiber blending day for a while, and I've been collecting things to blend. One of my main interests recently has been the different preparations and types of silk. Some of it is combed into top, bits are left as noil, and other silk is in stretched cocoon form. I've also been gifted with some awesome silk thrums, or left over threads from weaving silk saris. They're just a mess of threads but can be spun alone or along with wool or other silk to make a textured yarn. That's the main goal I have for spinning right now, creating nice textures. I got: 2 ounces of Silk Caps, 1 ounce of Silk hankies both are being dyed right now, 2 ounces of silk noil, 2 ounces of tencel cloud which is the rayon version of silk noil, 2 ounces of dyed mohair, 4 ounces of natural oatmeal Blue Faced Leicester top, and four ounces of white unwashed merino fleece which I'm washing.
