Sorry I've been away since spring break

Life just got away from me, and I promise I wasn't out partying like the college student that I am (even living five miles from America's Greatest Party Weekend last week). I have spent most of my time working on coursework or knitting and weaving. I finished three baby blankets and got them passed out, wove a really strange leno scarf that I'm not speaking too, and wrote a few knitting patterns. Last weekend I went to the Fiber Event in Greencastle, IN. Much fun, though I didn't find any more of that awesome sock yarn I bought last year. I did buy a new reed for my loom, 5 ends per inch, so that with worsted weight yarn I can make woven felt. I have some great ideas for wallets and small messenger bags.

The exciting thing about my knitting lately is I've stopped using other peoples patterns. For a while I was using patterns I saw and changing things slightly each time. Now I've gotten them to the point they don't resemble any pattern I have ever seen. My latest pattern is based off of a sock, but done on 10.5 needles, a great way for semi beginners to do everything they need to make a sock, but on big needles. Short rows were fun to incorporate and added shaping at the bottom. I need to try one more time on how to do slip stitches in the bag. You'll be seeing pictures of these soon, actually several of these bags and scarves are going to New York for a friend of mine to photograph with his very expensive camera.
