Bosworth MiniHere is my new Bosworth mini red cedar spindle spinning the fiber Sheila included. I love it, it even smells good!
I may have gone crazy (or Sarah buys a Barbie)I was cleaning out a closet the other day and came across my Barbie Box. Calling it a Barbie box is a bit off because I gave all of my Barbies to a few little girls about five years ago. I did keep all of the handmade clothes I had for them. That doesn't sound like it should be that much but my grandmother made enough knit and crocheted outfits that they fit into four gallon size ziplock bags. They're mostly done out of sock and baby weight yarn. There are several formals, some of which are quite trashy, but just right for Barbie dearest.
Fingering CVMMy first skein of thin yarn. Two colors of California Variegated Mutant wool plied together into 300 yards of sock weight yarn. I think that would be enough for mittens. $18
Flowery BFLin skein
Flowery BFL90 yards of Blue Faced Leicester thread plied with dark orange artificial flowers. There are flowers every few inches, would make a great hat or look nice striped into a scarf. $12
Mohair in skeinAround 140 yards of a purple mohair and wool blend yarn. It is thick and thin but probably can be worked at a worsted gauge or just slightly larger for a drapey affect. $10
Mohair Close Up~140 yards of mohair wool blend in a kettle dyed purple. If you're interested I can get the yardage and wraps per inch. $10
Morning Surf ScarfI entered this scarf in the 2008 Monroe County Fair. It recieved a first place and honor ribbon. It was knit using my own handspun wool. The yarn is a two ply of one solid blue Blue Faced Leicester wool and one ply of blue, purple, and green soysilk. It is about sock weight. The pattern was Morning Surf from the Summer 08 issue of Spin Off magazine, I only used 3 widths of the repeat instead of the recommended 6. $50
More Tour de FleeceI finished and washed the CVM. It is plied nicely and put up in a skein to enter at the county fair. 290 yards of lace to fingering weight! Last night I started spinning some of the purple mohair I bought at my spinners and weavers guild's auction. The single of it was 108 yards and 75 grams, thick stuff. I wasn't sure I could still spin thick, I've been spinning so much sock weight when plied. Today I plied it with sewing thread and silk flowers. I'm hoping to knit a kids hat. I'll take pictures as soon as I get a new camera.
